♚ Gilbert simply plopped the present in the American’s hand, that cocky grin on his face. The present was truly wrapped beautifully- neat, tidy, precise. The only thing that really made it stand out was that it was almost shaped like….a house.
Truth be told, that is because it was. A cardboard house to be specific, where inside resided a bear from Build-A-Bear workshop. It was the Captain America one, even all dressed up in a Captain America costume too- completed with shield.
Yes, Gilbert actually stood in line and did the Build-A-Bear ritual. He spun in a circle, made a wish on the heart, and even gave the little guy a bath. He was terribly pleased with himself, really.
“I know you’ll like it~”
He did not even doubt it for a minute. ♚
It didn’t take long for Alfred to start ripping apart the paper, much like a child would on Christmas, and as soon as he saw the cardboard roof he knew what it was. The blonde was no stranger to Build-A-Bear, but he couldn’t help but feel a little off-put by the present. Sure, he knew that Gilbert had a weird fixation for cute things, but never did he think that it would get so bad as to subjecting others to this craze.
Yet, as soon as he opened the roof all of those thoughts went away, and inside sat the perfect little gift. He pulled the bear out, gently like it was a gift from god, and pulled it close to his chest. It was childish, but at that moment Alfred could care less. He held that thing like he found a new best friend, and the smile on his face was so bright that the sun would be put to shame. Several times the American would look up at Gilbert, open his mouth, and then shut it before going back to his little companion.
Finally he could find his words. “Please tell me his name is Steve.”
