Flights didn’t normally tire him out so badly, at least as badly as it did for others who didn’t travel as much, but with everything happening back in the states from the riots to the celebrations coming up he was more than just a little tired coming into the trip. He slept on the plane and most of the train before even reaching Arthur’s house, and once there all the American wanted to do was sleep more. Well that and spend time with Arthur. A cup of coffee could keep him up for at least a few hours, and a few moments rest was all he needed before he would be as right as rain.

At least that’s what he kept telling himself, and Arthur, but as soon as he laid down on the bed he felt that exhaustion catch up to himself.

He must have dozed off for a few moments because next thing he could remember was the sounds of Arthur’s footsteps approaching him. He couldn’t open his eyes, the exhaustion weighing them down too much, and though he thought about opening his mouth to say something, Alfred figured that Arthur would make him go to bed moments later anyways so just best to pretend for the moment. The teen remained still, not wanting to scare Arthur, as the elder took care of him. It was nice, very nice, but he knew that this would be one of the only times that either of them could do something like this. One of them had to be asleep for them to show any sort of affection, and though Alfred wished that it could be different, he knew this would probably never change.

However, even with the gentle care he didn’t think Arthur was going to kiss his noes.

It wasn’t until he heard Arthur’s rushed footsteps away from the area did he reach up and touch his cheeks, feeling the heat coming off of them. The action was cute, sweet, and it brought up feelings that Alfred tried so hard to bury. He took a deep breath and draped his arm over his eyes. A small smile peaked out from the corners of his mouth, and it just continued to grow the more he thought about it. He had too much energy now, and after a moment he reached over and grabbed the coffee Arthur left behind. It was better not to let it go to waste, after all, and he was too….something to try and sleep. So mug in one hand and his phone in the other Alfred leaned back on the couch further and relaxed.

They might not express affection to each other openly, but if those little things could make Alfred feel the way he was feeling now… Well he was willing to wait around for those times that Arthur thought he was sleeping just to feel that way again.
